My research question:

Examining climate change and its impacts around the State of California; at different scales, local green environments, City and County. Specifically different events such as, wildfires, heat waves, droughts and floods.

Need statement:

Weather and extreme climate patterns can put lives at risk. There have been far more extreme floods, tornadoes, wildfires and many more natural disasters. People want to know how their homes will be affected.

Key findings part 1

  1. Examining climate change effects in california; at different scales. Specifically different events such as: Wildfires, Tornadoes, Heat waves, Droughts and Floods.
  2. Weather and extreme climate patterns can put lives at risk. There have been far more extreme floods, tornadoes, wildfires and many more natural disasters. People want to know how their homes will be affected.

Key findings part 2

  1. Root cause: The production of CO2 by fossil fuels.
  2. Root cause: Accumulation of CO2 in the atmosphere/ historical context

Key findings part 3

  1. It matters to other people because weather and climate patterns can put lives at risk. There have been far more extreme floods, tornadoes, wildfires and many more natural disasters. People want to know how their homes will be affected.
  2. The website has maps that track Carbon Vulnerability and has a fire Progression Visualization Tool. The maps are limited to only Carbon Vulnerability and a fire Progression Visualization Tool. Technology could be used to improve the maps to have other trackers and have them be one map rather than separate maps.
